Today’s comfortable and wealthy lifestyle has unfortunately paved the way to lifestyle related diseases. One of these diseases is periodontal disease (or gum disease). It appears that about 80% of people over 40s suffer from this disease. Moreover, this disease seems to appear increasingly at a younger age than before. In addition, recent research shows that this disease is one of the causes of other diseases affecting blood circulation, the heart and even diabetes.According to a member of the Japanese Dental Center “it is surprising to note how the patients who visit our Center, although educated and often coming from prominent social positions, tend to ignore the relationship between mouth disease and bone related disease”.
Now, why is periodontal disease spreading? “Recurrent symptoms are visible during the insurgence of gum disease and for other mouth disease” says Dr.T.Ambo of Niigata University. In one of his publications Dr.Ambo affirms that some diseases are often built up by the patients themselves. He also states that sometimes drugs taken to cure disease will lead to weaken body immunization ability and pave the way to new diseases. In particular, current dental care habits and the products used for dental care tend to weaken the natural mouth immunity. I personally agree with this view and feel that this is true. In order to prove this let us look at the mechanisms of nature. Wild animals tend to conserve their teeth the whole of their lives. In human society instead, for all I know there appears to be only two countries where dentists are hardly needed at all. One is Cameroon and the other is India. The common factor linking these two far countries is the use of a tree called “Neem”. The small branches of this tree are chewed and people use them to clean their teeth and mouths. It appears that neem sap contains substances having beneficial action in the mouth. The neem branches are chewed and reduced to fibers and these clean the teeth and massage the gums. This would be the reason of the beauty and strength of these two countries’ people. In these countries people do not use any nylon tooth-brushes or chemical tooth-pastes to clean their teeth.
But it is interesting to note that in the recent 10-15 years, the situation in India has partly changed. The demand for dentists seems to be increasing. In fact, the Indian upper class has absorbed the overseas habits of using nylon tooth-brushes and tooth-pastes, and this is apparently causing the deterioration of their dental health.
At this point, let me talk about myself. Until 7-8 years ago I was also suffering from periodontal disease. My gums were suffering and receding and 4-5 of my teeth were getting loose. At that time, following my dentist’s advice I was carefully brushing my teeth. But during that same period of time, I happened to be working on research about our ancestral tradition of Japanese paper-making, the so called “washi”. What I wanted to achieve was the production of anti-bacterial paper and I consequently started making experiments about it. In fact, I had the idea of inserting the leaves of a wild plant having natural anti-bacterial actions into the washi paper pulp. This wild herb is known as “Kumazasa”, and I succeeded in producing washi paper containing kumazasa leaves. I then thought of making paper yarns out of them and for the first time I started making fabrics and consequently garments made in washi paper with natural anti-bacterial properties. I realized at that point that my Kumazasa Washi fabrics had healing properties. For example, I was surprised to understand that socks made of this new material would cure foot fungus. Moreover, the prolonged use of these paper socks would soften the foot skin making it smooth and beautiful. Finally, the use of these socks would prevent the foot from any smell and keep the shoe clean. At first, I found these things scientifically inexplicable if not in terms of unknown natural action. Natural action is as mysterious as the birth of life itself, and as Prof.Murakami, world famous genetic researcher, says “something great” is hidden in natural actions. Then, by looking at nature action carefully, I started to understand that this would lead me to important discoveries. I then began to think of my dental problem in terms of natural actions and tried to learn from the observation of the life of wild animals. And then I tried to learn from the people of Cameroon and India who have an entirely different way of taking care of their teeth and opposite to what the Japanese dentists would recommend. After trying to take care of my teeth naturally, I was blessed by discovering that my gums were getting better and better. My gums stopped bleeding, no smell, the color became much healthier and the loose teeth got stronger. Recently, I even feel that my teeth are perfectly healthy now, and I stopped using tooth-picks after the meals. The quality of my teeth has changed. My tongue naturally removes the food remnants from my teeth.
The dental care habits I have developed in recent years are difficult to accept at first by many, but those who have tried to follow them all agree with me. One of these people who is a cook affirms that his taste sensibility has improved. I consequently invite you all to learn from nature and follow the natural tooth care of wild life in order to recover the original beauty and strength of your teeth.
*MOUTH CARE INSTRUCTIONS (DENTAL CARE METHOD LEARNT BY NATURE)
Conditions:
- do not use nylon tooth-brushes
- do not use conventional tooth-pastes
(* see my following explanations about my experiments on both items)
First of all, prepare a solution of “Kumazasa” liquid diluted into water at 30 volumes. Water is normal drinkable water. I suggest preparing a certain amount of this solution and conveniently store it to have it ready on hand.
*If you cannot find kumazasa liquid, you can try to dilute natural salt into water.
*You can purchase kumazasa liquid on the following web shop:
https://www.sasawashi.com/onlineshop/
# Here below this liquid will be identified as “@liquid”.
1) Clean the gaps between your teeth by a natural hair tooth-brush. Always wash your brush by water. Brush your teeth gently without up and down harsh movements.
2) After cleaning your teeth, utilize the @liquid to rinse your mouth. Then polish your teeth by a paper mouth wash care towel soaked into the @liquid. *Natural hair brushes (normally pig hair brushes) should be rather hard. The harder the better. After getting used to it, you will feel good with a hard natural hair brush and it will make your teeth strong. You are probably used to the softness of nylon brushes, but I recommend that we all refer to the hard Neem branches used in Cameroon and India.
3) Rinse again your mouth by @liquid and then massage the gums with a sasawashi paper mouth care towel soaked in @liquid. Clean your teeth and gums from all sides. The Sasawashi towel will reinforce the natural immunity ability of your mouth. *Massage the gums by the towel using your fingers and feel the healing sensation of a good gum massage.
4) Finally, wash your mouth with @liquid again. Natural immunization of your mouth will work as prevention from diseases.
*How to keep the necessary tools.
After finishing your dental-care, do the following:
5) Wash and dry your natural hair brush carefully.
6) Wash your mouth care paper towel by soap and dry it carefully.
* Keep your brush and towel in a dry place.
* Use Shabon Dama Soup Co.Ltd. , Eske Soap Co.Ltd. , or Sasawashi Soaps. Products. (Refer to: “Natural Soaps” published by Nobunkyo) . The six care steps above take 6 to 10 minutes.
*Clean your teeth before sleeping
There are three conditions which favor bacterial proliferation:
1) Bacteria proliferate in the dark
2) Bacteria proliferate in warmth and humidity
3) Bacteria proliferate when nutrition is abundant
These three conditions are almost present inside your mouth when you are sleeping. So it is not difficult to understand the importance of dental care before going to bed. It is paramount to develop good habits. As in our mouth there are normally about 500 types of bacteria and that these proliferate at phenomenal speed, there may be 50 to 200 million bacteria in a human mouth. These can be sensibly reduced by a correct mouth care habit.
It is almost 6-7 years since I stopped brushing my teeth after each of the three meals. In 2006 I will be 69 years old. If I compare my present teeth with the past ones, now my teeth are more beautiful than those of before. As it happens in new born babies after breast feeding, in adults too after each meal the mouth naturally produces protective substances. At least, this is how I see it.
I never fail to follow my six natural mouth care steps before sleeping: wherever I am, no matter how much I drink. As I wake up in the morning, I take off my natural hair brush and @liquid case, and diligently work on my teeth. I do that twice every day.
*Why are nylon tooth brushes bad?
The fiber section of a nylon tooth brush is actually stronger than steel. Consequently, the nylon hairs will tend to damage teeth surface. Our ancestors had never thought of nylon. If it is true that nylon brushes can make the teeth look whiter, smoother and cleaner, it is unfortunately true that they hurt the teeth and the gums at the same time.
[My Experiments]
I have reproduced the action of tooth-brushing on my arm skin. I have utilized a normal nylon tooth brush, a natural hair brush and a sasawashi paper mouth care towel for two minutes scrubbing my arm skin. In all cases there were no visible changes soon after the experiments. But the following day, I was surprised by what I noticed.
I could clearly feel and see on my skin the bad action of a nylon brush with severe bruises on the skin. This was not much visible in the case of a natural hair brush and not present at all with the paper mouth towel.
1) test day : May 4th 2002 PM 9:20
2) test method : utilizing all brushes and towel soaked in water for two minutes at the same pace I would normally brush my teeth and gums.

3) test result : no visible changes soon after the experiment . Nylon and natural hair brushes left a slight feeling of pain .The following day, there were visible bruises on the nylon brushed area.
4) testing person : Toru Itoi
*Why are tooth-pastes bad?
In the US if you eat the tooth-paste by mistake you are encouraged by dentists to visit not a hospital but a poison center. I concede that tooth-pastes have certain practical advantages, but I would like you to consider them as the soaps you normally use in your kitchen. Prof.Sakamoto of Sapporo Lions’ Dentist department says that inside tooth-pastes there are substances that react inside the mouth and are absorbed by the membrane under the tongue inflaming the glands. Also, Prof. Keith of Georgia University says that substances contained in tooth-paste can damage the membranes of the eyes. I can personally testify about the bad action of tooth-paste, which weakens the taste distinction ability of the mouth. Tooth-pastes destroy bacterial flora and damage mouth membranes. By prolonged use, tooth-pastes can severely reduce the ability to distinguish between different tastes. I made a few experiments using tooth-pastes. I diluted 0.1% of tooth-paste in a water of a bowl with gold fish in it. After two-three hours all gold fish died. We normally use tooth-pastes without diluting, so this means that we insert into our mouth 1000 times more detrimental substances than those into the gold fish bowl, and in the long run these substances remain in our bodies. I do not believe that for our mouth and gums these are good substance to use at all. These detrimental substances tend to accumulate in the membranes of our bodies and become the cause of life style related disease as many researches have pointed out.
* The beneficial effects of the use of Sasawashi mouth care towel (steps 1 to 6)
By repeating these six-step-care for one week about ten times:
- the massage cure will prevent bleeding of the gums.
- bad smells will stop
- make the mouth feel fresh
- teeth will look brilliant
- the gum colors will become natural pink
After six months / one year practice:
- mouth membranes will get healthier and taste ability will increase
- the need for tooth-picks after the meals will be less.
In short, the quality of the teeth and gums will be changed better, food remnants will be naturally removed by the tongue.
After three-four years of practice:
- teeth will restore their beauty
- This is the proof that mouth membranes and the gums are favorably affected by natural mouth care methods.
*You and the Dentist
I certainly advise you to see a dentist when you need to cure your teeth or remove the tartar, but I do not advise you to try and surgically restore the original beauty of your teeth and artificially whitening them. Rather I encourage you to massage your gums and naturally recover the beauty that your teeth had. I also wish that you may encounter a dentist that takes great care to preserve your natural teeth as long as possible.
